I’ve been buying more books than I should have recently, with the result that a number are piling up behind me. Plus there are a few that I’ve not finished for one reason or another.
- Eclipse: Building Commercial Quality Plug-ins, Second Edition. I started reading this and got about ⅓ of the way through before feeling absolutely revolted by the amount of code required to things that would be utterly trivial in Emacs.
- Eclipse Rich Client Platform. Intended to follow on from the plugins book, I didn’t even start this.
- Ajax Design Patterns. I started this, got distracted and forgot to go back to it. Now I’m going to be doing some Ajax at $WORK, I’m going to go back and finish it off. The bits I’ve seen so far are pretty good.
- Best of Ruby Quiz. Great book. I just need to find the time to sit down and do a few more of the exercises.
- Interface Oriented Design. Sounded like a good idea, but to be quite frank, I found it a little boring.
- Unicode Explained. I bought this in preparation for my railsconf talk. It’s a very good book. I nearly finished it. But towards the end I started feeling like that old Larson cartoon.
- Haskell The Craft of Functional Programming Second Edition. I can’t remember why I originally got this. I wanted to learn a new language. It may have been an attempt to understand the RelaxNG validation algorithm. Either way, I got about half way through and have somewhat of an appreciation for Haskell. I’d love to spend some time and finish this off.
Now that I’m going to have minimize my monthly outgoings, I should revisit these instead of purchasing new fare…
