Cat & Mouse

Our little darlings brought in a mouse last night. Just when I wanted to go to bed. Of course, at the first sign of us, they drop the little beggar and flee the scene of the crime. The poor little mouse is still alive and cowering by the skirting board. After much thought, I decide to lock a cat in the same room as the mouse until I don’t have a mouse problem any more.

Fat chance. The cat just claws at the door until I let it out again.

Insert Cat#2. This time it just sits there looking confused. I should point out that this is the one that caught the mouse in the first place.

So it falls to me to extract the mouse. After a long game of moving furniture and having the small creature jump out of my hands, I eventually managed to catch the little sod. At which point it sank its fangs into me.

So not only have the cats reduced the dignity of this home by bringing in vermin, I’m probably going catch mouse-disease. Bloody marvellous.

Printers

I hate printers. Always have done, probably always will do. Early on in my career, I witnessed a serveral hundred Kg printer crush a mans foot. I am convinced that the printer did this deliberately.

Today’s little task was to print a photo. Nothing too difficult about that you might think. But despite trying several different photos and seemingly endless combinations of settings (how many 4×6 photo card sizes are there?) it’s all to no avail. I have far, far too many wasted little bits of glossy paper (at £7.99 a pack, I’m not too keen on that). I have wasted far too much ink in the damned printer (at £25 a cartridge, I’m even less keen on that).

And for what? Ink all over the printer rollers to foul up any further printing I might want to do. Photos with the top missing. Photos with the bottom missing. Very enlarged versions of the top square centimetre of the photo. In fact, almost everything except a nice, complete, aligned version of the photo.

How hard can it be? I thought that this consumer stuff was meant to be easy! Naturally I blame HP for their part in this cock up (The printer does have their crap software with it).

Jabs

Last weekend we had all the jabs for the honeymoon. It’s only today that my arm is starting to feel normal. Ow. Ow.

Room Allocation

More wedding planning this evening. I now have a new hatred of smokers—they are “special cases” because only certain rooms in the hotel have easy access to somewhere you can actually smoke.

Even with that aside it’s incredibly difficult deciding where to put everybody. We’ve just spent an hour and a half sorting this mess out. It’s done now though. That means we have to sort out the table seating next…
